With all the upcoming new and funky eateries popping up all over Brisbane at the moment, it’s hard to keep up with the times. Every week I am hearing of a new dining experience that I jot on my list to try, and with studying, working and being a mother it’s hard to be everywhere at once. Luckily I was invited to attend the 1-11 brekky launch back in December. One-Eleven has been on my to do list since I started working at Kingleys, I walk past it every day admiring their beautiful open space of the dining area, peering in and people watching the staff, and their customers.
When you walk into the main foyer in the morning, the sun beams in throughout the whole space – which in my opinion is simply wonderful! Isn’t that what breakfast is about anyways? Sunshine ? Sadly, in my opinion, Brisbane is lacking beautiful upmarket breakfast venues, thankfully Bistro One-Eleven now has something to offer in this area. The venue has been beautifully decorated, from the wide set chairs and all down to the little bits like retro-like vintage brown glasses and funky but classy tableware.
We were greeted and seated almost instantly, given glasses of chilled water, and freshly juiced orange juice.. best way to start the morning I think. Then coffee orders were taken, and breakfast options were chosen. Diners sat amongst themselves and chatted about other brekky options, Philip Johnson and his very successful and well known Ecco Bar and general life in the media industry.
To start we were all given beautiful organic yoghurt with fruit compote and crunchy golden granola which was a really nice way to kick brekky off, and just hit the spot before my stomach started consuming itself, literally.
Suddenly.. breakfast was served.. man was I hungry.. the baked egg with roast capsicum, cumin, pancetta, goats curd, dukkah and baguette hit the spot. Beautiful combination of flavours that was warming and comforting – kinda felt like it hugged your insides. <i’m know=”” I=”” weird,=””>
Around me the other breakfast options:- sweetcorn fritter with bacon, avo and tomato relish looked divine and reminded me of a breakfast I once at Bills’ in Sydney.
… and the scrambled egg whites, with bacon, wilted spinach and english muffin for the less adventurous at breakfast time.
Twas a great dining experience, I’d definitely go again 🙂 but next time I am going to hit up their lunch and dinner menus – I’ve heard along the blogosphere that they are amazing too – stay tuned for more Bistro One-Eleven posts in the future 🙂
Happy Dining
